If the Segway HT becomes a major mode of travel for citizens, the users wil want to secure their expensive machines when not in use, particularly in out-of-home applications. In the same way that a bicycle user can lock their bike up when they reach their destination, a segway user should have a product which allws them to easily secure their vehicle. Also, since the Segway HT runs on rechargable battey power, users must recharge their vehicles. Our team recognized and combined these two customer needs and created a product to address them. Our goal for our design was to accomplish one thing; to make a product which would allow any segway user to easily secure and recharge their vehicle. Our secondary goals were to make it affordable and simple, so that a person could figure out how to use it without instructions. Our project was supposed to be one semester long, but we needed more time to finish our design, so we decided to focus on the locking rather than the recharging, because we considered the locking to be more vital to our product. We were also able to add some recharging functionality wth a simple power cord. Using an iterative process, we designed a full-sized functional prototype and a CAD model for "look and feel" prototype.
